Entry and published in Psicotec.
time ago I did a research paper. I am a professional in this field, and I say to that does not lead to mislead anyone. That does not mean that I learned well the lessons of psychology experimental and applied statistical research, so some basic knowledge in experimental methodology, as I pointed out I had the opportunity to do some study. That said, we must bear in mind that I am not any reliable source to consider in this regard, hence my warning. In any case I want to share with you an experience I did in his day, and that would otherwise be forgotten in a closet full of books and notes.
Once I did a force to study the superstition. Of course not delved far enough into the background of the investigation or anything like that (as should have been done actually). I just dedicated myself to the test.
wanted to know how it could influence a story, a recent testimony, beliefs that people have on certain issues like superstitions. This makes perfect sense, since many forms of pseudoterapia gain credibility precisely because word of mouth. You know, typical of ... "because my cousin did it work."
The truth is that an experiment was poorly designed, what we're going to cheat. But there's something called my attention to it, something he was not looking. The truth is that just as once recommended to me, to get the data correlate all variables to see if there a relationship between some of them. And bingo! It turns out that found a correlation between two dependent variables, between the "belief in fate" and "the belief in superstitions."
This result struck me as I assumed that someone who believes in destiny does not believe in superstitions. If I do not control my life, why try to control it by avoiding doing things that give bad luck?
The truth is that I had found a correlation that I did not expect, and among the conclusions of the work finished by saying that surely the people who believe in destiny are the same who believe in superstitions, perhaps due to lack of rationality in their thinking, not intelligence.
recently in September last year, I did hope to find an entry in "The Clan of the White Bear", which made reference to a study just published and where, among other things said just that, that one of things they found was that people were the same as superstitious tended to believe in destiny. I copied part of the text ...
"People believe that fate and chance control of their lives are more likely than others to be superstitious."
can find information about the study here also. Among other things in that other document reads as follows ...
"One of the major discoveries WAS That People Who Believe That chance and fate control Their Lives Are More Likely To Be superstitious."
I still save your work, and I remember that I gave to a teacher, but surely the copy given to the teacher is already in the trash. I doubt very much that if they keep coming to read them.
other things are commented also of interest in the study who can read. Since I saw it wanted to take a while to find the original article and comment on the subject. But as there is time for everything I left behind. Today I entered in "The Clan of the White Bear" and I saw that the blog closed after a few years in service, so I decided to write this post although I have not sought the article cited in the clan. In part I do to discuss my little experience of research, partly to dismiss Viper and wish him well in his life here in general and especially with his paternity. If you read this Viper, good luck!
